Ex Oriente – Isaac and the white elephant, Aachen
Our references include the nationally acclaimed culture historical exhibition “Ex Oriente – Isaac and the white elephant” in Aachen. This dealt with a journey of Emperor Charlemagne’s emissary Isaac to Baghdad: a convergence of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. In summer 2003 Ex Oriente was opened by the German President Thierse and exceeded expectations with more than 90,000 attendees. The exhibition’s curators were Prof. Dr Wolfgang Dreßen, Dr Georg Minkenberg and Prof. Dr Adam C. Oellers. High quality exhibits of international origin supported by contemporary art, such as by Shirin Neshat, were shown in the historical rooms of Aachen Cathedral, the cloisters and coronation hall.
